This site exists to publicise the Large Scale Napoleonic Wargames staged by the Liphook Historical Wargames Group. These Wargames are open to all who wish to participate.
Our aim over the next 9 years is to 'play' the major Napoleonic battles on or close to their 200th Aniversary. We have already staged Austerlitz (the Allies won) and Jena (a 'bloody' stalemate, ie marginal Prussian) at 1:60 and 1:50 figure scale respectivly both on custom designed contoured terrain on two 24ft x 6ft tables. We have also staged Eylau and Friedland at 50:1 figure scale on three 18ft x 6ft tables.
We use 25/28mm figures, mostly minifigs but more and more Foundry and Front Rank are creeping in.
We use our own ruleset called 'Art of Command' tailored to accurately represent Battalion/Battery/Regimental level combats but still allow a quick turnaround of turns.
We have a hardcore of perhaps 20 players and advertise for other participants depending on the size of battle (Eylau was a big one), players are asked to contribute to costs and it is generally between £20-£25 for an all-day battle (with refreshments and optional lunch). The battles take place in the village of Liphook some 20miles South of Guildford, England
